jasmine-viel-jpgAnchor Jasmine Viel has announced her departure from Salinas-Monterey, California CBS affiliate KION. After seven years, her last day is today. She writes in a farewell post on the station’s website:

I will be moving down to be with my husband Marc Cota-Robles in Los Angeles as I continue to pursue this crazy and rewarding broadcast journalism career that I am so passionate about.

I have been so lucky and honored to have been a part of many great experiences here on the Central Coast and the warm welcome I received from day one.

It has been a privilege to have been able to share so many people’s stories. From my time as a field reporter and working my way up to the evening anchor position, I have been allowed to grow with all of your support. It’s been quite the journey.

It is hard to say goodbye, especially to those talented and compassionate friends and fellow journalists who work with me in the newsroom and all those who I have had to say goodbye to over the years, but I know I will be checking in with them. As I hope you will continue to check in with me.
