Nexstar’s Charleston-Huntington, W.V. CBS affiliate WOWK has added anchor Amanda Barren to the team.

She’ll join Merrily McAuliffe and Rob Macko weekdays at 6 and 7 p.m. She’ll also team up with Mark Curtis at 5:30 p.m. for Inside West Virginia Politics on Sunday mornings.

Her first day on the air will be Monday, Nov. 22.

“I am honored to join a team that cares so much about the people and the issues in our communities,” Barren said. “I’m excited to hit the ground running and am grateful for the opportunity to do what I love in a place I care about deeply.”

Barren joins from Gray’s Charleston-Huntington NBC affiliate WSAZ. As TVSpy previously reported, she was fired in October for violating Gray’s Covid-19 vaccination policy.

She’s also worked at WTAP in Parkersburg, W.V., WJET in Erie, Penn. and WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio.

Sean Banks, vice president and general manager of WOWK, said Barren is an extremely talented and trustworthy journalist.

“She has vast knowledge of our market along with strong bonds in the local community,” said Banks. “We are proud that she chose to be part of our award-winning team at WOWK to continue her career.”
