‘An Emotional Day’: Meteorologist Geoff Fox Returns to TV in Palm Springs

By Mark Joyella

Geoff-and-Janet-533x400Geoff Fox, who left TV news after 26 years as a meteorologist at New Haven ABC affiliate WTNH and a scandal-shortened tenure at Hartford Fox affiliate WTIC, was back on the air in Palm Springs on New Year’s Day. “An emotional day,” Fox wrote on his personal website, writing from his hotel room. “TV came back to me very quickly. If anything I was a little too intense. There was a lot of pressure to release. I will calm down.”

Fox was fired from WTIC in 2012 for “inappropriate conduct.” He says the return to work, at NBC affiliate KMIR, was made better by the support from longtime viewers back East. “I was also touched by the response of my Connecticut viewers via Facebook. It’s so strange to be gone and not forgotten. That doesn’t happen often.”
