Amber Eikel has been named managing editor at KTVU, the Fox affiliate in San Francisco. Her first day will be September 30.
Eikel comes from KTVU sister station KIRO, Cox’s CBS affiliate in Seattle, where she has been an executive producer for the past two years. She has also worked as an EP at KTNV in Las Vegas and as a senior writer and producer at WTMJ in Milwaukee.
“We are very fortunate to have someone of Amber’s caliber in the Cox Media Group family. Her great work at KIRO and previous experience covering big stories will make her a great leader here at KTVU,” news director Lee Rosenthal said in a statement.
Her hire comes on the heels of staff upheaval at KTVU related to the station reporting fake names of the Asiana Airlines flight 214 pilots.
