Well-liked Albany reporter Ben Ryan is leaving WTEN for a new opportunity.

He’s from the region in New York and says while moving on is hard, he wants to grow as a journalist.

“I’m leaving the market to pursue a new opportunity in the news business and will announce soon! Stay tuned for the next adventure,” he wrote on Facebook, adding, “The Capital Region has been my home for the past 24 years and always will be, which made this decision extremely difficult.”

Ryan is known for his silly antics on the morning show.

News director Ryan Mott told the Times-Union, “We are very proud of Ben. Over the past two years he has shown tremendous growth and dedication to the team. It was a pleasure to watch him tell such a wide range of stories, and get to do so in his hometown. We wish him the best on his next adventure.”
