Al Gnoza to Debut on WHP One Year After Awkward Joke

By Mark Joyella

Al Gnoza will return to Harrisburg, Pa., TV this week, making his debut on CBS affiliate WHP. Gnoza will join Tanya Foster on the station’s 5 and 5:30 p.m. broadcasts as co-anchors.

Gnoza is the Harrisburg anchor fired from ABC affiliate WHTM for making a joke about the testing of emergency sirens at Three Mile Island Nuclear power plant. He told viewers, “If you live around Three Mile Island and you hear emergency sirens tomorrow afternoon, we’re all going to die.”

Gnoza’s hiring was announced in January, but the anchor reportedly sat out a non-compete, which expired this week.
