Ailing WLOX Anchor Hopes to Return

By Mark Joyella

Picture 1It’s been four months since Jeff Lawson, anchor at Biloxi ABC and CBS affiliate WLOX has been on the air. He’s been battling Bell’s Palsy, which causes partial facial paralysis and can, for some, be permanent. “I tell people I’ve gone from being ugly to being even uglier,” he joked in an interview with the Biloxi Sun Herald.

The twenty-year veteran isn’t sure when he’ll be able to return to work, but he says he’s been touched by support from viewers:

Lawson said one recent month a Lucedale church he had never been to before sent him weekly encouragements signed by all the members praying for him.

And he gets daily support from friends, family and strangers both online and in the community.

“It’s blown me away,” he said.
