WEWS Cleveland reporter Olivia Fecteau had some good news to share in time for the holidays.
Fecteau, who was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia earlier this year, posted the update on her Twitter page: her cancer is in remission.
“Good news!” she wrote. “Currently working my way through another round of chemotherapy to keep the leukemia away, but very happy to share that I’m in remission.”
It all started back in September, when the 31-year-old reporter started feeling under the weather. She thought she may have contracted Covid-19, but after two negative tests, she went to a a doctor, who said swollen glands and a lump above Fecteau’s collarbone might be something else.
“It was bigger than a baseball,” she said. “They didn’t know what it was at that point. They said it could be lymphoma, but it could also be benign.”
It wasn’t benign — and after more tests, Fecteau was diagnosed with a rare, fast-growing blood cancer called T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma. She was immediately admitted to the hospital at Cleveland Clinic where she began aggressive treatment.
