Zucker: Capus “Has Kept His Focus”

By Brian

“I’m thrilled to let you know that Steve Capus has officially been
named President of NBC News,” Jeff Zucker said in a memo to
staffers today.

“Steve had a lot on his plate when he came to this position, but has kept his focus, his keen sense of news judgment and his high standards for excellence throughout. His experiences across virtually every aspect of this news division in his more than 12 years at NBC News have served him well, and will continue to in his new role.” (Via FTVLive).

To All,

I’m thrilled to let you know that Steve Capus has officially been named President of NBC News.

We will be sending the news to the press shortly.

As I told you a few months ago, when Steve stepped into this roll on a
temporary basis, I have the utmost confidence in him and his
abilities. And since he’s been in the role, working with all of you,
the news from the news division just keeps getting better. NBC News
has never been stronger, journalistically or competitively. And the
timing couldn’t be more appropriate. Both “Today” and “Nightly News”
are about to mark significant milestones in the coming weeks, and they
are complimented by an ongoing and unparalleled success story at “Meet
the Press.” Our expansion on the digital platforms continues at record
speed. MSNBC.com has moved into the top tier of online news websites.
“Dateline NBC” continues to provide a steady news presence in prime
time. And at MSNBC, steady growth and impressive year-to-year gains
remain positive signs and I have high hopes for the cable channel in
the coming year.

Steve had a lot on his plate when he came to this position, but has
kept his focus, his keen sense of news judgment and his high standards
for excellence throughout. His experiences across virtually every
aspect of this news division in his more than 12 years at NBC News
have served him well, and will continue to in his new role.

Please join me in congratulating Steve on this very well deserved
promotion. And my congratulations to all of you for your
accomplishments, particularly these past few months. You never fail to
make all of us at NBC Universal incredibly proud.

Jeff
