Zakaria on ISIS: ‘We All Have a Stake in This Fight’

By Mark Joyella

On Monday night, CNN debuts “Blindsided: How ISIS Shook the World,” a Fareed Zakaria report on the origins of the group, what their goals are–and if they can be stopped.

“My goal is always to offer viewers some context to the complex events happening around the world – and to explain why they are relevant to them. We hear a lot about ISIS in the news – yes, it’s scary, but it’s very important to understand our enemies and threats, too,” Zakaria told TVNewser. “Blindsided will give viewers a sense of who these people are, where they came from, how they work, what their goals are, and whether they are stoppable. We all need to know this information so that we can better understand what it will take to defeat them – we all have a stake in this fight.”

The special airs Monday at 9 p.m., and features interviews with intelligence officials, Middle East experts and others.
