Yellin Joins CNN

It’s official. Jessica Yellin is joining CNN as a Capitol Hill correspondent. Yellin joins CNN from ABC, where she worked mostly on the White House beat, but also “reported on politics and culture for World News, Good Morning America and Nightline.” Before ABC, Yellin was an anchor at MSNBC.

In the press release, Yellin says, “I am thrilled to be joining the network as it prepares coverage of what promises to be one of the most intense election seasons in recent history.”

Yellin picks up where Andrea Koppel left off. Koppel announced last week that she is leaving CNN.

Jessica Yellin to Join CNN’s Washington, D.C., Bureau

Jessica Yellin, a Washington-based correspondent for ABC News, has joined CNN’s Washington, D.C. bureau, it was announced today by Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S. Yellin, who has covered the White House for ABC since November 2004, will become a Capitol Hill correspondent for CNN. “We’re fortunate to have someone as plugged-in and passionate as Jessica about political reporting,” Klein said. “She’s skilled at finding and telling those stories emanating from Washington that also matter to people across the nation.”
“It is an honor to be able to contribute to CNN’s first-rate political coverage and an opportunity I couldn’t miss,” Yellin said. “I am thrilled to be joining the network as it prepares coverage of what promises to be one of the most intense election seasons in recent history.”
As part of ABC News’ Washington team, Yellin reported on politics and culture for such programs as World News, Good Morning America and Nightline. Yellin joined ABC in July 2003 and has reported from around the globe — with assignments in Russia , China, Europe, Latin America and Mongolia.
Prior to joining ABC News, Yellin was an overnight anchor and correspondent for MSNBC. She covered the 2000 recount in Florida as a general assignment reporter at WTVT-TV in Tampa. She began her broadcast career in 1998 as a general assignment reporter for Orlando’s 24-hour cable news channel, Central Florida News 13. In 1999, she was named morning anchor.
Yellin’s work has been published in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Details and Entertainment Weekly. She was a Los Angeles-based reporter for George Magazine. Prior to that, she served as front-of-the-book editor at Los Angeles Magazine, where she contributed and edited stories on politics, Hollywood and cultural issues.
Yellin graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University.
