With Nielsen Ratings Revision, ‘NBC Nightly News’ Winning Streak Continues

MuirWilliams2Just in: Revised Nielsen data for the week of Sept. 29, 2014 shows “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was No. 1 in total viewers while “World News Tonight with David Muir” remains No. 1 in the A25-54 demo.

This means the NBC broadcast’s weekly winning streak remains unbroken for 265 consecutive weeks (including the week of Oct. 6.)

With the revisions, NBC gained .4% in viewers and .3% in the demo while ABC lost -3.6% in viewers and lost -6.3% in the demo.

“We are pleased that the corrected numbers confirm that ‘NBC Nightly News’ is the #1 news broadcast in America, and has been for the last 265 weeks,” says NBC spokesperson Erika Masonhall. “We remain, first and foremost, committed to our viewers and bringing them a broadcast with credible, authoritative news they can trust.”

ABC News spokesperson Jeffrey Schneider tells TVNewser, “The restatement in numbers in no way changes the obvious momentum at ‘World News Tonight.’ We’ve always said this is a very long game and we’re proud to put on the best broadcast every night with first rate journalism and information that helps our viewers better understand the world.”
