With Beck Back And Grace Gone, HLN Maintains Ratings

Headline News got Glenn Beck back Monday for his first December hosting gig (he’s been on the road promoting his bestselling book). Beck, who’s been out for a few weeks, and Nancy Grace, who has been gone since the end of October when she left to have twins, host the 7pmET-11pmET hours on HLN — with each hour-long show airing twice.

However in their absence, Headline News’ ratings have not suffered major losses. In fact, Grace’s rating have even improved slightly. In October, Grace’s 8pmET broadcast was averaging 525,00 total viewers and 182,000 in A25-54 demo (Live+SD data). In November, with substitute hosts, Grace’s show averaged 619,000 total viewers and 221,000 in the demo.

Beck’s 7pmET show brought in 347,000 total viewers and 150,000 in the demo (Live+SD) during November. In December, since he’s been away from the show, his total viewers have dropped to 239,000. His demo viewer ship has fallen off significantly, to an average of 77,000 so far.

His return Monday saw a return to ratings normalcy, with 346,000 total viewers and 144,000 demo viewers.

Subbing for Grace has been a rotating panel of fill-ins, with Jane Velez-Mitchell, Mike Brooks and Pat Lalama. Beck’s primary fill-in this month was Joe Pagliarulo.

A HLN spokesperson tells TVNewser, “We’re glad to have Glenn back on our air this week, and then again for Iowa coverage in the first week of January, and we’re eagerly awaiting Nancy’s return on January 7. All of the substitute hosts for both Glenn and Nancy have long been associated with the network in some capacity, and we’re confident that will continue to be the case.”
