NBC’s Brian Williams is on his eleventh trip to the Gulf Coast today. “We will originate the broadcast from a levee tonight (a first for us in all our trips here),” he blogs.
President Bush was in New Orleans today, too. In a conversation with Bush, Williams read a quote from the president’s Jackson Square speech, then asked if he still stood by his words.
“Absolutely. I am. Step one is to make sure people have got confidence in the levee system, and we said that we will have by June 1st levees up to pre-Katrina or better, and that will happen,” Bush said…
