Following the shootings at Ft. Hood, TX earlier this month, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly declared her show would not be reporting the names of mass killers. Yesterday, we got to thinking if she would stick to her guns, and not report the name of the accused killer of three, including a teenager, in Kansas on Sunday.
Turns out, Kelly did not report the story at all last night. Kelly’s primetime colleagues Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity also didn’t report on the shootings at a Jewish community center and housing facility; Greta Van Susteren did at the end of “On the Record.”
All three of the Monday network evening news broadcasts led with Sunday’s shooting, which had been declared a hate crime.
Some stories Kelly did cover last night: that altercation between ranchers and federal rangers in Nevada; the IRS political-targeting story; a Utah father suing the state over a law that allows one parent to file for adoption; and a Washington, DC man convicted of possessing unlawful gun ammunition.
The shootings at Ft. Hood on April 2 occurred just hours before Kelly went on the air. In the case of the Kansas killings, the story happened more than 30 hours earlier.
