Why David Muir ‘Will Stay on the Case’ of the Forgotten Children

By A.J. Katz

After Friday’s episode of ABC World News Tonight, David Muir headed to Mexico City with the group Disability Rights International. The trip came one year after Muir’s report on the treatment of disabled and orphaned children in Mexico. The Mexican government announced a ban on cages and restraints soon after Muir and Disability Rights International visited last year. And their return this weekend was not a welcome one, as doors were closed in their faces.

A segment with footage from the return trip aired during last night on World News Tonight. Muir reports that Disability Rights International is moving forward with its lawsuit against the government of Mexico for “allowing egregious human rights abuses against children and adults with disabilities to continue unabated.”
