Many fans of The View have probably been wondering: “Where’s Whoopi?”

Well, daytime TV and comedy legend Whoopi Goldberg updated fans as to why she’s been absent from the show for more than a month, and the state of her health.

In a taped segment, Goldberg revealed she had a near-death experience with serious pneumonia and septic shock.

“I am here. I am up and moving around—not as fast as I’d like to be, but I am OK. I’m not dead,” said Goldberg, describing her illness—saying she had pneumonia in both lungs and was septic.

“Yes, I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news: I didn’t,” she said.

The View co-host thanked her fans, and said she had received all kinds of support from both her supporters and those who aren’t usually her supporters.

“We all know that’s gonna change when I get back,” she joked, as the audience watching the clip laughed. “But for now, it’s brilliant … I’ll tell you about it when we’re all at the table.”
