NBC on Wednesday announced Natalie Morales would move to Los Angeles to take on a new role as host of Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood Live, while continuing to be part of Today as a “West Coast anchor.”

“[My family and I] have long talked about perhaps moving to the West Coast were the sun is always shining,” Morales said on Today Thursday morning. “It’s going to be a good change of pace, a good lifestyle.”

Morales joined Today as a correspondent in 2006. She was named the morning show’s news anchor in 2011, taking over for Ann Curry.

Who will take her place at Today? An existing member of the Today family, like Hoda Kotb or Tamron Hall? Perhaps a flashy return by Katie Couric or Meredith Vieira? Or someone else entirely?
