Who Could Fill Tony Perkins’ Shoes?

By Brian

If ABC does not win the “bidding war” for Tony Perkins, who will fill his spot on Good Morning America?

This morning I suggested WABC’s Sam Champion. “He looks to be the best person to replace Tony on GMA,” an e-mailer says. “EVERYONE loves Sam Champion at GMA. Marysol Castro who does weekends is also a good choice, she’s cute as a button!”

Now a tipster suggests a CNN meteorologist: “Back before Tony Perkins was hired by GMA, the network talked to a number of other candidates including Chad Myers, who was then doing the weather at WXYZ-TV in Detroit. Tony got the job instead and Chad went to CNN in Atlanta. Now that he has a national reputation, especially in the wake of Katrina. perhaps ABC will want to talk to Chad again.”

> Update: 4:32pm: “Meteorologist for GMA? Paul Goodloe of The Weather Channel, of course! Great voice, easy on the eyes and great meteorolgist.”

> Update: 4:34pm: “I hear Mark Thompson [KTLA Weatherman and American Idol announcer] is being considered…and met with ABC execs as recently as a few months ago].”
