Wheatley To Colleagues: “It’s Time To Trade In The Beeper And The Blackberry”

“After more than 30 challenging and rewarding years with NBC News, I’ve decided that it’s time to trade in the beeper and the Blackberry and move on to something different. In June, I’ll retire from NBC.

In ‘retirement,’ I intend to be quite active. After some time off, I’ll be pursuing a series of personal and professional projects that I expect will be stimulating and satisfying. I’m also looking forward to spending more time with family and friends.

NBC News is in good hands with a bright future. I know that I’ll miss many things about being here, particularly you, my colleagues. Your good work has always been an inspiration to me, your camraderie a source of joy and sustenance. In the weeks ahead, I intend to thank in person as many of you as I can.
