George W. Bush was on dais, but George Clooney was at the Newsweek table (next to Lally Weymouth, who also had Josh Bolten by her side).
All the MSNBC primetime anchors in the room met Clooney, beginning with Chris Matthews before dinner. Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough spent a couple minutes with the actor/director while dessert was being served. Rita Cosby talked to him a few minutes later. (My blurry cameraphone picture is above.) CNN’s Jamie McIntyre was not far behind, juggling a wine glass and a digital camera to take a photo of his military guest with Clooney.
Clooney created such a stir that the Hilton waiters could barely serve dessert. “C’mon, George, put on a mask,” one remarked…
