What’s Happening With CNN’s Bill Hemmer?

By Brian

CNN American Morning co-host Bill Hemmer “has lost much of what support he had this week with his public complaints about his offer to become CNN’s White House correspondent,” NRO’s Beltway Buzz says. One thing is for sure: His remarks to Howard Kurtz were read throughout the network.

Hemmer “has no idea how to do anything himself,” a network source tells the blog. “When he does interviews, producers do everything, from writing his scripts to doing most of his interviews and footage is cut to make it look like he’s working.” CNN won’t comment on contract negotiations; We’re waiting for the other shoe to drop…

> If Miles O’Brien heads to NYC to co-host AM with Soledad, would we see Stephen Frazier handle the afternoon shift with Kyra Phillips? That’s what some CNNers are speculating/hoping…

> Update: 9:50pm: A sampling of e-mails in response to this post:

“Those are unjustified cheap shots against Bill Hemmer. I’ve worked with him and he’s one of the most hard-working, engaged anchors at CNN.”

“I should hope they would let Kyra anchor alone…I think Your World Today bookended by two hours of Daryn and two hours of Kyra would be a great daytime lineup. You’d have some form of symmetry…”

“Stephen Frazier is a gem in the news business, the fact that he is being wasted on HLN is absurd.”
