What’s “CNN DNA?” It’s Flying To Africa And Filming A Series About AIDS

Admittedly, this is a little dated. CNN announced Don Lemon‘s appointment as Atlanta-based anchor last week. But this press release quote from president Jon Klein is still worth highlighting.

“Don won over the Chicago audience with his intelligent, confident style on air,” Klein said. “But Don’s initiative impressed me most. Here’s a true-blue journalist who left the comforts of a Chicago news studio with his own camera in hand, flew to Africa and came back with a stunning series about the AIDS epidemic there. That showed he has CNN DNA.”

CNN DNA? I’m not criticizing Lemon’s reporting — it was obviously moving and effective, as this Web site demonstrates. But I’d like Klein to tell us about the other strands of CNN DNA…
