What Is News?

Reporting from ABC’s press tour in LA., The Chicago Tribune’s Phil Rosenthal has an interesting read which asks that burning question.

Rosenthal talked with ABC News EP David Sloan (of the newsmagazine Sloans) about how the networks now define news: “My definition is limitless,” said Sloan. “I think we constantly have to explore different places at the table for news. Just like you guys (in newspapers). You have a front page. You have a (features) section. You have an entertainment section. I think we’re looking for new ways of engaging the viewer.”

ABC News will try “engaging the viewer” with the production of “Six Degrees of Martina McBride”. It premieres night Monday on ABC.
