Week of Nov. 28 Morning Show Ratings: GMA Recaptures Top Spot in Total Viewers and A25-54 Demo

With the Thanksgiving holiday in the rearview mirror and the holiday season upon us, ABC’s Good Morning America bounced back to reclaim the top spot in the weekly morning show ratings race for the week of November 28.

GMA had a good week as it topped last week’s champion, NBC’s Today, by +400,000 total viewers and +20,000 Adults 25-54. This is the second-largest margin over Today during the 2022-2023 season to-date.

Not only that, but the Wednesday< Nov. 30 edition of GMA was its most-watched single-day telecast since March 28, with more than 3.54 million total viewers.

According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, Good Morning America averaged 3.39 million total viewers and 763,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo for the week of Nov. 28.  That’s +4% in total viewers and +7% in A25-54 compared to the previous week.

Looking at GMA’s performance relative to the same week in 2021, the morning show bucked the trend in total viewers growing by +4% but stayed true to form in the A25-54 demo, declining by -9%.

NBC’s Today show fell back to Earth after its Thanksgiving week ratings highs. Today took second place in total viewers and the adults 25-54 demo this past week, averaging 2.985 million total and 743,000 A25-54 viewers.

Compared to the previous week, Today was understandably down by big margins dropping by -18% in total viewers and  -10% in the A25-54 demo, making it the only morning show to see week-to-week declines. When looking at the numbers relative to the same week in 2021, Today shed -25% in total viewers and -21% in adults 25-54.

CBS Mornings remains third place in both total viewers and A25-54. For the week of Nov. 28, the broadcast averaged more than 2.57 million total viewers and 535,000 A25-54 viewers.

Compared to the previous week, CBS Mornings was up in both total viewers and the adults 25-54 demo at +2% and +5%, respectively. Looking at the same week in 2021, CBS Mornings is down -1% in total viewers but gains +3% in the A25-54 demo.
