Week of May 30 Morning Show Ratings: GMA Marks 5 Straight Weeks at No. 1 Among Adults 25-54

In a measurement it has ranked No. 2 in for years, ABC’s Good Morning America has now marked five consecutive weeks as the No. 1 morning show among adults 25-54. The last time ABC’s morning show averaged more adults 25-54 than NBC and CBS for five straight weeks was July-August 2015.

According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged 790,000 adults 25-54 during the week of May 30, which started with Memorial Day. The 790,000 viewer average is up +3% from the previous week. GMA averaged 3.34 million total viewers for the week, +2% from the prior week and the largest total audience on morning TV.

GMA gained +2% in total viewers but shed -9% in A25-54 viewers from the year-ago week, which GMA also won across the board.


Over on NBC, Today took second place in both key measurements for the fifth consecutive week. The broadcast shed -2% in total viewers and -7% among adults 25-54 from the prior week. Today lost audience from the comparable week in 2021, -7% in total viewers and a whopping -23% in adults 25-54.

CBS Mornings averaged 2.39 million total viewers this past week, which is -4% from the prior week and -6% from the year-ago week. The story in the key A25-54 demo was far stronger, however. The broadcast’s 554,000 A25-54 average for last week is its largest delivery in the measurement in nine weeks, +3% from the previous week and also +6% from the year-ago week. We rarely highlight third-place finishes, however CBS Mornings trailed Today by only -98,000 adults 25-54 this past week. That represents the broadcast’s smallest deficit in the measurement ever.

Lastly, on Memorial Day (Monday, May 30) all three programs were coded specials—and each telecast is excluded from the weekly and season averages. As a result, ABC’s, CBS’ and NBC’s morning show weekly averages are based on just four days (Tuesday-Friday).
