CNN has launched a powerful new marketing campaign meant to reinforce that the cable news channel’s mission is to always put facts first.
CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker said the campaign stemmed from CNN employees approaching him suggesting a campaign that would explain their sole mission.
“While significant research shows that our brand, despite consistent attacks from Washington and beyond, has never been stronger, we heard you and we agree,” Zucker wrote in a note to staffers in a note obtained by TVNewser. “We think there is no better time to take a clear stand for who we are and what we believe in,” he said.
The campaign, called Facts First, includes a :30 spot (below) as well as a mission statement (above). Zucker hopes the campaign has a grassroots momentum and has encouraged employees “to share with friends and across your social media networks.”
“I encourage you to do so, and keep in mind the spirit of its message in your work every day,” Zucker writes.
