Last week after he returned from Egypt, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper made waves when he called the Mubarak regime “liars,” not just on CNN, but on other appearances, such as on CBS’ “The Late Show.”
Now, Cooper has come under some mild scrutiny for those comments.
In the LA Times, James Rainey writes:
Indeed, it’s hard to find fault with what Cooper had to say, though it did begin to sound a little one-note after about the sixth or seventh “liar, liar.” We got the point a few minutes into the show. And its doubtless many in the audience didn’t understand, since the evidence appeared right on our TV screens all week.
Meanwhile, on Fox News, contributor Liz Trotta criticized Cooper for having the audacity to use the “L” word at all:

Of course, one wonders if the American media might have a better reputation if its anchors and reporters actually called U.S. politicians liars, rather than simply letting them give their deceptive talking points.
