Wallace Only Plans “Slight Tinkering”

By Brian

Variety’s Michael Learmonth talks to Alex Wallace about her new job heading NBC Nightly News:

When it became clear Reiss was leaving ‘Nightly News,’ Wallace was simultaneously considering with Capus who would helm the show, and if the best replacement would, in fact, be her.

‘As this conversation started I started to think, ‘I’d like that job,” Wallace said. ‘It’s a great job; one of those jobs that you grow up and think it’s the biggest job in television news.’

Wallace said she has no plans to dramatically change the newscast beyond ‘slight tinkering.’

‘I plan on evolving the show like any new executive producer would,’ she said.
