Mark Hoffman‘s memo to CNBC staffers:

“It is with mixed emotion that I announce that David Friend has decided to leave CNBC to pursue other opportunities. David has spent the past 8 years with CNBC and seen the business go through a number of changes and developments during his tenure. Over the past year, David has been focused on building a management infrastructure within the organization and adding resources to execute on the vision of providing more compelling, intellectual debate and story selection throughout the day. Business Day now has a leadership team in place including Glen Rochkind, VP of News, Tyler Mathisen, Managing Editor, Josh Howard as VP Longform Programming & Specials and Executive Producers; Alex Crippen, Ed Kosowski, Matt Quayle, and Ramona Schindelheim. With this team in place Business News has seen tremendous growth in ratings, breaking stories, and positive buzz about the programming. Producing 14 hours of live programming every day is an arduous task and David and the team should be applauded for their effort and dedication. I’d personally like to thank David for his great work over the years and I wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Jonathan Wald will assume the position of SVP, Business News immediately. Jonathan has been with NBC since 1983 when he started as a Desk Assistant at NBC News. Jonathan held a variety of producer positions with NBC including Executive Producer of NBC Nightly News and Executive Producer of the Today Show. Jonathan began working with CNBC in 2004 when he assisted with Primetime Strategy and show development. Most Recently Jonathan has been the Executive Producer for “On the Money” which has been one of CNBC’s fastest growing programs. The show has seen 72% growth in ratings since it began in October of 2005 and is now delivering ratings for A25-54 which are 20% higher then the same time period last year. Jonathan has assembled a great team and has shown strong leadership and vision in building the audience and momentum for the show. In his new role Jonathan will oversee CNBC Programming from 4am – 8pm. I look forward to working with Jonathan as we continue to build on the recent successes of all of our programs. Please join me in congratulating Jonathan on his new position.”
