World News Tonight’s Western Edition debuted on Thursday with an exclusive: “Audio of emergency dispatch tapes from the West Virginia mine obtained exclusively by ABC News after World News Tonight’s East Coast broadcast,” the network says. The tapes led the broadcast at 5:30 and 6:30pm PT. (They also aired on Primetime.)
