Veteran ’60 Minutes’ Correspondent Steve Kroft Admits Affair, Apologizes

By Brian Flood

kroftAfter being outed by The National Enquirer, veteran “60 Minutes” correspondent Steve Kroft has apologized for having an extramarital affair. The apology confirms the tabloid report that Kroft has been involved in a three-year affair with a woman who isn’t his wife.

“I had an extramarital affair that was a serious lapse of personal judgment and extremely hurtful to my wife and family, and for that I have nothing but regret.  This was a personal failure, not a professional one, and had no impact whatsoever on my job as a journalist. My wife and I are committed to each other and are working hard to get past this, and consider it a private matter,” Kroft said in a statement.

The Enquirer report revealed racy text messages and photos of the Kroft enjoying a nigh out with his mistress. Kroft has been with CBS News since 1980 and joined “60 Minutes” in 1989.
