Yesterday’s protest at the CBS shareholders meeting, mentioned below, was organized by the Writers Guild of America to call attention to their stalled contract negotiations with CBS. They’ve been without a contract since April 2005, a rep says, “with a key sticking point being CBS’s demand to strip newswriter/producers from their Writers Guild protection, under which they have worked for more than 40 years.”
The agreement covers newswriters, editors, desk assistants/production assistants, graphic artists and researchers in NY, DC, Chicago, and LA. The next negotiating session is set for June 5…
