Update: The HLN Electrical Fire

Following up on yesterday’s fire during a Headline News broadcast:

“A light that exploded on the air caused the fire. The network switched to a pre-recorded tape while the fire was put out,” the New York Post reports. Here’s the video on YouTube.

Linda Stouffer was reading a story about guns when she was distracted by a “pop” above the set. “I’m going to try to get through this,” she said after mentioning technical difficulties. (“That’s dedication, I’d have been out of my seat,” an e-mailer says.) Co-anchor Chuck Roberts said they needed to get off the set.

When they came back at 3pm, the co-anchors said it was a little smoky, but everything was fine. Stouffer even said to Roberts, “And your hair still looks great.”
