Dear Colleagues;
When I joined CNN, I expected that I’d grow professionally and personally. Having worked in sports, advocacy and network communications, I wanted to test my skills and judgment in the real-time world of news. Having come of age with CNN, I wanted to contribute to its remarkable history. And because passion, integrity and hard work are the qualities I most admire, I wanted to be around people who embody them.
Nearly two years later, I’ve grown even more than I could have imagined back then. Working at CNN has made me better, stronger and smarter about a lot of things, including what I want out of work and life now. And what I want is something different. I’ve spoken with Jim Walton and Shirley Powell about my desire to make a change, and they have given me all the support and encouragement that I have come to expect from them as colleagues and friends. Effective today, I am leaving CNN and my post as senior vice president of public relations to take a break and explore what’s next.
My experience here has been a gift that I can’t begin to repay, but you have my sincere thanks and this promise: I’ll be watching CNN, and with pride, affection and deep respect.
