Univision to Launch Weekly Health Show

Univision has announced the launch of a new weekly health show set to debut tomorrow. “Cita con tu Salud” will be hosted by Enrique Acevedo and Pamela Silva Conde, with Univision chief medical correspondent Dr. Juan Rivera.

Univision says the show, which will air at 4:30pmET Sundays, will focus on a wide variety of medical issues and “place special emphasis on the Affordable Care Act.” Production of the show’s first season is supported by The California Endowment, a private health foundation that seeks to increase awareness of the ACA and enroll Latinos into health care.

“As the leading source of news and information for the U.S. Hispanic community, Univision News is excited to launch ‘Cita con tu Salud’ to address the main health concerns of our audiences and provide them with the information they need to better understand the new healthcare law,” Univision News president Isaac Lees said in a statement. “‘Cita con tu Salud’ is one more example of Univision’s commitment to informing and empowering U.S. Hispanics.”

MIAMI – SEPTEMBER 19, 2013 – Adding to its robust slate of original programming designed to provide the Hispanic community with the most relevant and reliable news and information tailored to its needs, Univision News, the award-winning news division of Univision Communications Inc., has announced the launch of “Cita con tu Salud” (Appointment with Your Health), an original 30-minute weekly health series scheduled to premiere on the Univision Network on September 22, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. ET/PT (3:30 p.m. Central).

The new program will be focused on helping Univision’s viewers better understand a wide variety of medical issues so that they can take control of their health. It will also place special emphasis on the Affordable Care Act, explaining its provisions and benefits in simple terms –not only in general but also as they relate to specific illnesses and situations– and providing valuable information and tools that will empower audiences to get the most out of the new law.

“Cita con tu Salud” will be hosted by Univision News anchors Enrique Acevedo from “Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna” (Univision News, Late Night Edition) and Pamela Silva Conde from “Primer Impacto” (First Impact), along with Univision’s Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Juan Rivera. Dynamic, informative and entertaining, the show will feature enlightening conversations with medical specialists, correspondents, preventive health experts and real people with health issues to shed light on numerous topics ranging from the newest medical breakthroughs and treatments to nutrition, exercise, and even alternative therapies.

The California Endowment, a private health foundation, is helping to support production of the first season of “Cita con tu Salud” as part of its “Asegúrate” campaign, which aims to increase awareness of the Affordable Care Act and enroll Latinos into health care. The Endowment works to expand access to affordable, quality health care for underserved individuals and communities and to promote fundamental improvements in the health status of all Californians.

Univision’s “Cita con tu Salud” will be available online after the broadcast at Univision.com/asegurate and on mobile via the Noticias Univision app. The show will also be available on UVideos.com, the first bilingual digital network serving Hispanic America.
