Union Demands ABC News Drop Wal-Mart Sponsorship Of “Only In America” Segment

Quoting yesterday’s press release: “The United Food and Commercial Worker’s Union sent a letter to ABC News today demanding that Wal-Mart be immediately removed as a sponsor of their “Only in America” series, citing misleading and deceptive advertising.” Wal-Mart sponsors the Good Morning America series, which tells stories of “common Americans and their love for the country and it’s citizens.”

The union’s petition says ABC is providing Wal-Mart with “both a format and visual framing to perpetuate a long-term myth — that Wal-Mart possesses a unique American patriotism manifested in practices that promote American values, respect workers, and privilege American-made products.”
