As we noted yesterday, prosecutors in the trial of former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky asked NBC News for the full transcript of Bob Costas’s interview with Sandusky, and may use it as evidence against him.
Last night on “NBC Nightly News,” the network aired the most controversial remark that was cut from November’s “Rock Center” interview. It also served as something of a response to online outrage over the cut, with correspondent John Yang noting the full interview “had been published at the time” even as parts of it did not make it on TV.
“Prosecutors may use additional portions of the unedited transcript from Sandusky’s telephone interview,” Yang said in the report. “The full interview, which had been published at the time, includes the following exchange…”
