Keenan, who has been assistant news director for KTVT-TV, the CBS owned station in Dallas since 2004, will be responsible for CBS News’ editorial and logistical coverage from three domestic bureaus: Atlanta, Dallas and Miami. Keenan served as the executive producer of the investigative unit of WBBM-TV, the CBS owned station in Chicago (2003-04), as well as the managing editor of the station (2001-03) and the executive producer of special projects (1999-01). He also served as the manager of news operations for WGN-TV Chicago (1997-99) and for WBBM-TV (1995-97). Keenan was the executive producer for WBBM’s coverage of the 1996 Democratic National Convention. He was a field producer for the CBS EVENING NEWS (1992-95) and a regional producer for CBS NEWSPATH (1992-95), the 24-hour news service for CBS stations and international clients. Keenan was the deputy bureau chief for CBS News’ Chicago bureau (1990-92). He was an editor on the national desk for CBS News (1988-90) and an assistant producer for CBS Radio News (1987-88). Keenan began his broadcasting career as a desk assistant for CBS News (1986-87) in New York. He has received two Emmy Awards: in 2004 for a series of investigative reports on government employees loafing or working other jobs on the taxpayer’s dime and in 2003 for coverage of congestion at O’Hare Airport and its impact on the economy and the community. Keenan was born in Chicago, Ill. He was graduated from Drake University in 1984 with a bachelor of science degree in broadcast journalism. Keenan lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife and two sons.
Vega has been a broadcast journalist for 20 years, producing reports for both Spanish and English-language broadcasts. In addition to her domestic news gathering experience, she has covered events throughout Latin America, including the Chiapas uprising and three Mexican presidential elections. She has served as a Los Angeles-based producer for the CBS EVENING NEWS, as well as acting deputy bureau chief since 1999. Before that, Vega was an investigative producer for KCBS-TV, the CBS owned station in Los Angeles (1998). She was a special projects manager at KTLA-TV Los Angeles (1997). Vega also served as the executive news producer for KVEA-TV Los Angeles (1994-97) and KCBS-TV (1992-94). She was a line producer (1991-92), a segment producer (1990-91) and the news assignment manager at KMEX-TV Los Angeles (1989-90). Vega began her journalism career as tape coordinator and producer for KVEA-TV (1986-89). She joined CBS News as an intern in the Los Angeles bureau (1988). Vega is the recipient of several awards, including two 1994 local Emmy Awards: one for coverage of the Loma Prieta earthquake in San Francisco and another for coverage of police brutality in Latino communities. She has also received a 1998 Investigative Reporters and Editors Award for a series of reports on illegal pharmacies. Vega was born in Los Angeles, Calif. She was graduated from California State University in 1993 with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. Vega lives in Los Angeles.
