Fox News Channel has been atop the cable news ratings for 13 years, but now its challenging broadcast competition in both the morning and evening, according to Adweek. Fox & Friends and Special Report with Bret Baier are beating their broadcast morning and evening competitors in several markets across the country.

Fox News CEO and chairman Roger Ailes discussed the situation with Adweek:

From the personality-driven programs like Fox & Friends, to our in-depth political news coverage on Special Report With Bret Baier, we are pleased to be making serious inroads in major markets with both the broadcast morning shows and evening newscasts.

Fox & Friends ties NBC’s Today show in the key demo in both Jacksonville, Fla., and Charlotte, N.C., while it is outpacing CBS This Morning and ABC’s Good Morning America in at least nine markets. Special Report is topping the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley and ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir in at least eight markets.
