Fox News had 14 of the 15 most-watched programs in cable news in total viewers and 8 out of the top 10 programs in A25-54. The O’Reilly Factor was the most-watched cable news program of the month with 3.96 million total viewers.
Tucker Carlson Tonight was the No. 1 cable news program of the month among adults 25-54 (784,000). Since moving to the 9 p.m. hour this past month on January 9th, Carlson has also posted a +50 percent improvement in total viewers compared to the January 2016 average of The Kelly File.
Fox News’ 7 p.m. program The First 100 Days which debuted two weeks ago, anchored by Martha MacCallum, was +79 percent compared to the same month last year. It was also the No. 1 cable news program of the month among viewers 18-49 (537,000).
Additionally, Hannity was +79 percent versus the same time last year, and both The Five and Special Report with Bret Baier each posted their most-watched months ever since they launched on the network.
The Rachel Maddow Show was the most-watched non-FNC cable news program for January, ranking No. 12 and growing +75 percent from its January 2016 performance. Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell (No. 16), All in with Chris Hayes (No. 18) and Hardball with Chris Matthews (No.20) were other MSNBC shows that fall into cable news’ top-20 most-watched.
Anderson Cooper 360 was CNN’s most-watched show for the month (No. 17). CNN Tonight with Don Lemon (No. 22), The Lead with Jake Tapper (No. 23), The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer (No. 24) and Erin Burnett Outfront (No. 25) follow.
Anderson Cooper 360 (No. 7) and Maddow (No. 8) make their way into cable news top 10 among adults 25-54.
