Tom Brokaw to Release Memoir Drawn from Cancer Journal

NBC’s Tom Brokaw, who announced in December that his cancer had gone into remission, will release a memoir in May about his experience with the disease. Brokaw’s publisher, Random House, announced the book, “A Lucky Life Interrupted,” is drawn from a journal Brokaw began writing when he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

“A year ago my future was more uncertain than I cared to acknowledge,” Brokaw wrote in a memo to NBC colleagues last year. Brokaw hopes his memoir will offer some help to people with cancer who face that same uncertainty.

Last May, Brokaw told an audience at the Peabody Awards that he faced cancer much as he would approach any story–learning all he could about the disease, and how others have fought it. Brokaw says he hopes the new book might “help others dealing with this unwelcome condition.”
