Todd Donovan Named SVP of BO&E at ABC News

By Merrill Knox

Todd Donovan has been promoted to senior vice president of broadcast operations and engineering at ABC Television, ABC News president Ben Sherwood announced today in an internal memo to staffers obtained by TVNewser.

Donovan, who has been at ABC since 2008, is currently vice president for technology and operations. Over the next several months, he will work with Preston Davis, who is set to retire as president of broadcast operations and engineering after 35 years with ABC.

In the memo, Sherwood credited Donovan with “transforming newsgathering and training a new generation of journalists,” noting that he will remain important to ABC News as the network finds “new strategies and technologies to win the championship of news and information.”

Please join me in congratulating our very own Todd Donovan who has been promoted to Senior Vice President of BO&E for the ABC Television Network, reporting to Vince Roberts.

Over the next few months Todd will work closely with Preston Davis, who is retiring after 35 remarkable years with the company.

Todd has been a key player at ABC News for the past few years helping to develop the digital bullpen, transforming newsgathering and training a new generation of journalists.  He was also a key player in the planning and successful implementation of the first automated control room at a broadcast network.

While Todd is moving up he is not moving out.  He will remain a key partner for ABC News as we find new strategies and technologies to win the championship of news and information.

Please join me in thanking Preston Davis for his leadership and myriad contributions over the years.

And please congratulate our friend Todd on his important new role.
