Todd Donovan has been promoted to senior vice president of broadcast operations and engineering at ABC Television, ABC News president Ben Sherwood announced today in an internal memo to staffers obtained by TVNewser.
Donovan, who has been at ABC since 2008, is currently vice president for technology and operations. Over the next several months, he will work with Preston Davis, who is set to retire as president of broadcast operations and engineering after 35 years with ABC.
In the memo, Sherwood credited Donovan with “transforming newsgathering and training a new generation of journalists,” noting that he will remain important to ABC News as the network finds “new strategies and technologies to win the championship of news and information.”

Todd has been a key player at ABC News for the past few years helping to develop the digital bullpen, transforming newsgathering and training a new generation of journalists. He was also a key player in the planning and successful implementation of the first automated control room at a broadcast network.
