Representative Todd Akin, whose controversial comments on rape earlier this week resulted in a slew of prominent Republicans calling for him to drop out of his race, is finally making the expanded media rounds.
Akin had previously appeared on Mike Huckabee’s radio show, as well as Fox News host Sean Hannity’s radio program. He bailed at the last minute on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” resulting in an “empty chair moment.”
This morning he appeared on the top two morning shows, NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where he reaffirmed that he will not be dropping out of the race. On ABC, he was asked about a tweet saying that the “liberal media” was trying to force him out of the race. Anchor George Stephanopoulos noted that party leaders were among those calling on him to resign, and Sean Hannity–not exactly a token liberal–was aggressive in that regard as well.
