Today’s Race to the Altar

By Chris Ariens

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and Cub fans are already beside themselves, which must mean one thing: It’s time for the Today show wedding extravaganza. The NBC morning show would like any and all affianced to log on to TODAYshow.com for details.

From there, five “standout” couples will be brought out on the plaza, week after week until you, yes YOU, America chooses the winner. The Wedding ceremony will be held live June 25.

And to sweeten the deal, maybe even Kathie Lee will sing at the reception.

“Today” Is Calling All Couples To Log On To TODAYshow.com For the Chance Celebrate Their BIG Day On Rockefeller Plaza

NEW YORK – April 2, 2008 – Once again, love is in the air on NBC’s “Today,” and soon wedding bells will be ringing on the Plaza – very soon. This year, “Today Throws a Wedding” is racing to the alter. “Today” is looking for five deserving couples to compete for a dream wedding on Rockefeller Plaza. Once chosen, the lucky couples will participate in weekly challenges for the chance to win the hearts of viewers across the country and tie the knot on America’s favorite morning show. The winning couple’s nuptials will then be swiftly planned by viewers for a June 25th wedding event live on “Today.”

Couples are encouraged to go to TODAYshow.com for details on how to mail in a one-minute video telling “Today” why they are the perfect couple. Five standout couples will be picked by show staffers, and the winning couple will be chosen by America. Following tradition, “Today” viewers will plan the wedding by voting on the couple’s rings, the wedding gown, the tux, the attendants’ attire, the cake, and the honeymoon. Last year, hundreds of thousands of viewers logged on to plan Jessica and Cody’s dream wedding with Martha Stewart.

All interested couples should visit TODAYshow.com for entry information and details on how to submit their one-minute video by mail. During the series, viewers will be able to vote for their favorite couples and wedding details by logging on to TODAYshow.com.

“Today” is proud to announce Nestlé USA as the broadcast sponsor of the 2008 “Today Throws a Wedding” series.
