Today Is the No. 1 Morning Show of the Week Across the Board

By A.J. Katz

morning-tv-tvnewser_2016NBC News had a strong week. Not only did the network win in the evenings, but it won the mornings in both total viewers as well as the key demos. Last week marks Today’s second across-the-board win in the past 4 weeks, and the show has now won 6 weeks this year to-date in both total viewers and the demos. While a win in total viewers is rare for Today, the program has now won the demo 65 out of the past 66 weeks. The show held steady in total viewers, but was -4 percent in the demo from the comparable week last year.

It was a poor week for GMA, ratings-wise, as the program was -8 percent in total viewers and -9 percent in the key news demo from the same week in 2015. Nevertheless, ABC remains No. 1 in the mornings when it comes to average total audience, and maintains the top spot at this point of the season for the 5th year in a row.

CBS This Morning continues to deliver year-over-year growth. Last week, CTM was +2 percent in total viewers and +1 percent in the news demo from last year.
