A network insider wonders if Friday is a historic night for network news. They ask: “Is tonight the first night all three network newscasts have been anchored by women?

Elizabeth Vargas anchored on ABC, Campbell Brown subbed for Brian Williams, and Lesley Stahl filled in for Bob Schieffer on CBS.

Does anyone know if this has happened before?

> Update: 8:52am: A tipster says yes: “Three women anchored the three network newscasts on the same night back in 1990 when Connie Chung subed for Dan Rather on CBS, Mary Alice Williams subed for Tom Brokaw on NBC, and Diane Sawyer subed for Peter Jennings on ABC.”
