There weren’t many surprises on the list of the top regularly scheduled cable news programs in August. As usual, Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor” was the number one program in both total viewers and adults 25-54, averaging 2.60 million and 492,000 viewers, respectively. FNC had the top 10 programs in total viewers, and the top five programs in the key adults 25-54 demo.

Impressively, MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” placed sixth overall in the demo (ahead of FNC primetime program “On the Record”), and was also the network’s top program in total viewers, placing 11th overall. Maddow averaged 1.10 million total viewers and 326,000 demo viewers.

CNN’s top program in both total and demo viewers was “AC360,” which placed 21st in total viewers and 24th in the demo, averaging 458,000 and 131,000 viewers, respectively. “Piers Morgan Tonight” wasn’t far behind in both categories.
