The Ticker: Gittrich, Tower, Schieffer

  • Greg Gittrich is leaving NBC where he was VP of NBC News Digital. “Right time for me to move on to a new thing,” Gittrich tweeted. NBC News SVP Julian March will oversee digital in the interim. Gittrich joined NBC in 2008 heading up the digital platforms for NBC’s O&Os before moving to NBC News in 2012.

  • Jon Tower is leaving MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and joining “CBS This Morning” where he’ll be supervising producer. “Even though he’s not moving on to a better place,” Joe Scarborough joked, “he is getting a wonderful opportunity. I’d be sad except for the fact that I know that Jon, Mika, and I are going to work together again soon,” Scarborough added.

  • CBS News anchor Bob Schieffer and chairman Jeff Fager will be each be honored by the New Canaan, CT library next week. Schieffer will receive the Salant Integrity Award while Fagar, a New Canaan resident, will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, part of the the Richard Salant Lecture Series. Dick Salant, a past president of CBS News, was also a longtime New Canaan resident.
