Some random thoughts about MSNBC’s new primetime show:

> Monday’s premiere averaged 452,000 P2+. “Viewers are so used to MSNBC messing around with the 9 p.m. ET timeslot that they’ll probably forget he’s on,” an e-mailer says. “It will probably take a while for anyone to even realize there’s a new show on at that time.”

> CJR weighs in: “While ‘The Situation’ had many of the same problems as other cable news shows, it did have one significant, and surprising, thing going for it: It was nice.”

> Carlson talks to the Hartford Courant: “There’s nothing wrong with debate,” he says. “Debate is healthy. People who seek to squelch debate make me nervous. What people didn’t care for on that show was the notion that the debate wasn’t real, that they were simply repeating talking points to one another.”

> Lloyd Grove writes about the Imus/Carlson spat: “They’re big boys. They’ll work it out,” Rick Kaplan says…
